My letter to Marcie Aiken

Dear Marcie Aiken,
Thank you so much for writing your book “The Crooked Stick.” I owe you a great debt of gratitude. A couple of years ago you gave me a copy of your book, and said that you wrote it for women and didn’t think a guy would get anything out of it, but because of something you wrote in your book I was able to overcome my addiction to pornography. You wrote about how God made sex to bring two people closer together than anything else could. I know it was just one paragraph in your book but that paragraph was a major factor in me overcoming my addiction.
I grew up in a Christian home and have served Christ my entire adult life but until I read those words the only thing I heard from the Christian community about sex was how great it was supposed to be. I am unmarried that mindset is not something I should have about sex at this point in my life.
I confessed my sin to my pastor around two years after I read those words, and often times he would start to use this idea of great sex to be a reason to not look at pornography, in fact as far as I can tell the entire Christian counseling community uses that philosophy when it comes to counseling against porn. But because of your words I steered the conversation towards the closeness that I will one day experience instead of how good sex feels. I would not have been able to do that without your book. If I confessed my sin and he used the idea of great sex to council me I would not have been able to overcome my addiction. Thank you so much for what you wrote.
I am a single guy and I recognize that the majority of Christian single men and teens are struggling with pornography and that the Christian community is unwisely  using the philosophy of great sex to try to lead us away from our addiction, so I have set up a website singlevsporn.com where I tell my story on how I came into my addiction, struggled with it for many years and how God delivered me from it, and the insights I have for overcoming this terrible addiction. There is a place for the unmarried on the site, and those who council them. I set up this website because as far as I can tell unmarried Christians fighting porn are fighting a very different monster than married Christians fighting porn.
Thank you so much for what you wrote, I owe a great debt of gratitude toward you, and I suspect that many unmarried who visit my site will to.
My Sincerest deepest thanks
Restored
